Heartland Poker Tour, Black Hawk Co , Golden Gates Casino: Trip Report

I know its been a while since i went and busted from the HPT event, but i feel i owe my loyal blog readers a trip report , despite how uneventful it was.

I flew to denver and took a 1.5 hour cabride from denver airport to black hawk, the drive was nice and lots of nice scenery , ive never see the rockies and to drive through the rockies up close is def a nice sight to see. i checked into my hotel which was about 1/2 mile from the casino in which the hpt tourney was going to take place. I was sort of hoping to meet up with a pokerstars rep so that i can let them know which starting day i wanted to play and to get my free tshirts , lol . I emailed my contact over at pstars and asked where do i go , who do i see , etc, and he gave me the cell phone # of the pstars rep who was in town for the hpt event.

I called the number and my cell let me know that i was dialing a north dakota phone # , and me being from NYC thought it was 'funny' to speak to a person from ND , i never really met ppl from small towns or small population states. anyways, he tells me that he will pick me up in about 45 min in front of hotel .

I go downstairs and see this nice looking suburban vehicle that is wrapped up with the HPT logos and this guy comes out and say , Hey , im Todd , im the founder of the HPT , and im thinking to myself , wow , this is the dude who is going to be driving me around , cool!! , then he points to another dude sitting on the bench smoking a cigarette , he walks over to me and says Hi, nice to meet you steven , im Fred , and i realize that this is the guy who is the co host of the HPT TV show , i felt like a vip chilling with the founder and tv personality ,

Anyways , we get to the casino and head straight to the bar and they offer to buy me a drink and start talking to m e about the pstars satelitte process and how i felt about the hpt joing with pstars to bring more players to the events , we chatted for about an hr and it seemed like they were genuinely interested in my thoughts about how to improve the expand the hpt.

They took me to the registration area and i chose what starting day i wanted to play and then asked me if i wanted to join them at the cash tables , which i did and proceeded to lose 3 buyins at 2/5 NLHE , i said my good byes and wanted to get a good night sleep before the tourney tomorrow.

the next day i decided to walk to the casino from hotel and enjoyed seeing the small city of blackhawk , population 151 , i saw lots of cowboys and lots of what we NY'ers would call hicks. i always like to observe ppl and their actions so it was fun just to walk around.

the tourney was pretty uneventful , i never really had much chips and never got anything going and ended up busting when i flopped an under boat and my opponent flopped trips , all the money went in on flop and he turned a higher boat , good game me. i wasnt disapointed at all and barely showed any emotion , my table was filled with bad players and older ppl but i just couldnt get anything going , i lasted about 6 hrs in the tourney and deiced to take a nap so i can play the cash games all night long.

i got killed at the cash tables and said to myself , its time to go home , i booked my glight and left town , being in Co for about 48 hours.

I thought i would have fun traveling by myself , but i actually didnt enjoy it at all so i rushed to get home to my family.

all in all it was fun and i will continue to try to win satelittes to live events on pstars , Bahamas here i come!!!

How to Split a Long Video File to Fit Youtube

I know this is a poker blog , but recently ive been shooting alot of video and i usually like to upload it to youtube, bec it makes sharing with family and friends alot easier when all i need to do is upload and send ppl the links to the specific video instead of emailing attachments to my tech- challenged relatives

as some of you know , youtube has a 10-min cap policy , but what if you wanted to upload little jimmy's entire 18 minute school play. heres the easy solution and avail on most computers without adding or downloading extra software, this is how to split a long video to fit youtube

step 1 - locate the video that you want to use , perhaps move this to desktop so its easier to find

step 2 - Find a program on your computer called Windows MovieMaker, this comes with most windows computers, Click All programs -> and select Windows MovieMaker. Once this is opened i would suggest to resize the windows moviemaker window to a bit smaller than the monitor size so you can easily drag the video from your desktop into the main area of the Windows MovieMaker.

step 3 - After you have dragged the video into the Windows MovieMaker program , you will notice that on the right side of the screen it will show your video along with the timeline of the video.

step 4 - After seeing how long the video is , you can drag the timeline from the start up until the spot that you want the first segment of your video to end, for e.g. youtube allows for 10 minutes , i would suggest you drag it to 9 minutes to be safe. after you drag it , You will see a small icon on the bottom that will give you an option to split the video

step 5 - You can now repeat this step for part 2 or 3 , depending on how long the video is , You will now drag each small clip to the bottom in the 'storyboard' part of the windows moviemaker program ,

step 6 - After all the clips are on the bottom you will then select one or all of the clips and you will see a save to computer option, You will also have options to see how big the file will be and to even save the file with a greater or worse level of quality .
