Pack Your Bags, We Going To The Bahamas: I Won The PCA STEPS !!

I did it !
I entered level 6a and took it down ! , 1st place ! , I got the $12k package

I took my time before just entering the next 6a game that was available. While playing other games I would watch an ongoing 6a game and see how it was played. Learned a little how the high stakes Sit n go's were played.

while observing, I noticed there were about half the players who already had won a PCA entry and were just playing for W$ ( poker stars will give u $12k in the form of tournament/event dollars for multiple wins). And then over time I would see them playing 4 tables at once , a level 6, 6a, 5 and a regular 9 person sit n go for $2100 entry.

I watched over the course of a few days and really absorbed the game, almost obsessed. All the time Mrs Poker Grind is saying just freakin play and leave me alone.

I flipped on the comp ,itching to play and saw an 18 person , level 6 in progress. There were 5 players left , and I recognized 3 of the players that I had seen over the course of the last few days. After about 10 min the tourney was over and all 3 that I recognized had taken it down and won the pca steps prize package. This was , at least , the 3rd time I have seen these guys win .. Not altogether in 1 tourney and not all same day, but just over the course of the last few days in both 6 and 6a.

And I said to myself that I would like to play with these 3 at a level 6a game with 9 players. The reason for this was because I knew that anyone at this level is a good player, but I figured that for some who play this level on a reg basis they would be more willing to 'make moves' and try stuff and hopefully I would play tight against them and be able to pick off their bluffs and perhaps get paid. And I clicked on to register to a 6a game and saw 6 ppl waiting and the lucky 3 were all there.

My goals changed thoughout the game , and in beginning my strategy was not to really play any hands until the first 2 players were knocked out. So I can at least guarantee myself a $500 profit for all my troubles.
I don't think I saw a flop on any hands for the first 45 min until I got dealt AKs , and I did a 3 X raise on the button with only 1 limper before me. Everyone folded except limper who called, the flop came 6 J 2 rainbow , Iimper bet , I reraised to bluff he went all in and I folded, leaving me with 2000 in chips , , starting balance was 3000 and after 45 min of blinds I had 2850ish.
At this point , all 9 players are left in game and I'm short stack, and I got nervous that I would flameout and be one of first 2 to be kncoked out. I instantly turned to lockdown mode and wasn't gonna play anything except high pockets , 5 or so hands later I get pokcet queens on the button. The usual 2 limpers limp in , then super aggressive guy to my right , who 3 X bets every hand for the past 30 min decides to do the usual and 3bets.. I think for a second and reraise , I reraised about 65 % of my stack , sort of commiting myself, and letting the table know I was commiting. Both blinds folded and 1 of the limpers called and other limper folds and super aggressive guy folds. I was concerned at what this guy had and I sort of put him on a high ace. The flop came 6 7 2 , w/2 spades .. And opponent checked,i thought , would he check a high pair with a flush and straight draw on board, perhaps he gonna do a check raise on me , I checked too. Next card is a 10 , and he checks so I check
, river brings an ace and he checks...i think for a second and wonder , maybe he don't have an ace, his card came on the river, there's a big pot, no flushes and crazy gut shot straight possibility , the pot was checked all the way down , I guess he don't have an ace , I bet 350 as a value bet, he insta calls and shows pocket 99's , the german virgin , and I take down the pot.

This eased my nerves a bit and put me back into contension to make some cash in the tourney

I grinded myself up to about 5500 in chips and there were still all 9 of us playing .. About 20 min later 2 aggressive guys got knocked out and at this point I had hoped for players to get a bit looser since we were all in the money.

boy was I right, 2 more players were eliminated real fast and now I was guaranteed at least $1000.

With 5 players left I made a horrible call that would make me short stack again. I was big blind and dealt pocket 88, and a player before the button raised , and it was a typical move to steal blinds, but I shouldve known better bec this guy has been playing tight all game , I later found out that this player was Shannon Shorr... It gets folded to my pocket 8's and I decide to bet a minimum raise , and Shannon Shorr instantly raises all in , I was hoping for AK but I called and he flipped over pocket Jacks and took the pot making me , once again the shortstack , again !!

I continued to play tight and pick off some blinds here and there, when I was finally dealt pocket aces , and 2 guys before went all in , I naturally called and almost tripled up on that hand against pocket 10's and A10, and the pocket 10's guy was eliminated. This elimination meant that I needed 1 more to be eiliminated before I can be guaranteed $1500 payout.

I don't really remember too much specifics , but I did pretty well, bluffed a pots, played my good cards well and lo and behold we are down to 3 players and I'm guaranteed $1500 with a real shot at taking this down!!
I was chip leader and the other 2 ppl who were left were 2 of the 3 guys who I had been watching the last few days. At this point I was chip leader but not by much and we played 3 handed for a while . Those 2 were super aggressive at this point so I wated for some premium hands to fight back with and take my share of the blinds. There were both reraising all in just to steal blinds so I knew I needed to wait for a preemy hand and pick them off,
and finally I'm dealt AK on the small blind. And the dealer button moves all in , like he has been doing a lot lately so I couldn't really put him on a hand. I instacall and he flip over Q 10 , the flop comes KK4 and the turn and river were blanks and I took out the 3rd place guy. His user name is MrSmokey1 , and later I had found out that this guy is Steve Billirakis, a young online pro who won a bracelet at this past years World Series Of Poker earning a cool $500k.

And now we were heads up, I had about a 2 to 1 lead on the guy and was feeling nervous and very confident. This guy decided to play super aggro style and was pushin all in everytime he was big blind and folding the small blinds to me always. I played real patient , I wasn't interested in seeing flops and spending chips when this guy is constantly moving all in..
after a while he whittles me down to almost even chip stack ,leaving me with a few blinds more than him. I get dealt pocket 22 and raise all in pre flop , he thinks for a 2nd and calls showing A6 .. I assume he called me bec he thought I was bluffing and making a move and he thought his ace high would be good, the flop comes 882 giving me an instant full house , the turn brings an ace and makes me sweat a little , the river brings a 6 giving me the WIN !!

In all my excitement I forgot to take a screenshot of the tournament lobby , but here's a screen shot of the PCA registration page showing my user name there

Bad Beat # 2 : is this a bad beat ?

this hand was brutal... I lost about $120 on this, I guess I'm lucky that my opponent was shortstacked

I flopped a set and so did he...he ended up with a better full house than me

The Satellite Loss From Last Week... It Still Hurts

Last week i wrote this post about Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure ,
They were having a satellite and i had placed 2nd out of 126 entrants
heres a pic of the loss

It was a $33 Rebuy tournament and after the 1st hour there were about 134 Rebuys and 51 Addons , and i had not rebought or added on , and i had won my entry into this $33 tournament by winning a FPP points tourney that awarded me this ...So the total prize pool was less than $12k , meaning only 1st place was getting the Trip tot he PCA , And the tournament entry fee to the WPT event that will be there..

I was chip leader when we made it to the head table, and i knocked some guys off but headed into 3 way with about even with my 2 opponents,
I knocekd off the 3rd place guy with my pocket 10's vs his pocket 99

and heads up action quickly became an even chip stack game ,
I was dealt a k5 ( i think king, maybe a diff card) and the flop had a 5 in it , we both checked, the turn brought another 5 and he went allin , i called , and he had the A5 , leaving me with barely enough chips for 3 antes.. I lost 2 hands later ,

I was extremely disappointed and thats why i have high hopes for this Level 6 entry ticket i have

I am still happy with my decision to play level 6a and not the regular level 6,
I want to be rewaded regardless for my achievment of making it here to level 6 , after all its an equivalent of a $2100 buy in..

level 6 is a 18 person Tourney , and top 3 get the prize and trip to the bahamas, and # 4 and above get squadoosh.

level 6a , is a tourney with 9 players, and top prize is given to the 1st place guy , but 2nd and 3rd get $1500, 4th and 5th get $1000, 6th and 7th get $500

If i outlast 2 guys , even if i just play uber tight , then i can at least guarantee myself the $500 and it would be a postive return for me with the hopes of making more

Ill prob play tomorrow

Gonna Play Level 6, Eventually!!

I still haven't found the time to play my level 6 entry. And my SnG challenge that I started is beginning of the month is not doing too well. Its not that I'm losing , but just that I haven't played a sng in about 10 days.

I've been consumed or even obsessed with the PCA Steps so I've been playing a lot of those , and as side supplement I've been keeping a table of 2/4 opened in the background and only playing a real monster hand in good position. I'm up about $1400 alone from the cash game so I'm pretty excited about that, I've been playing very patient and only picking the good spots.

I really want to continue the sng challenge but the sng's are sometimes very very boring. I will probably play a few multi table tourneys and I'm going to try the Steps tourneys for the APPT tour.

Wish me luck

PokerStars Steps

Some of you dont know what the pokerstars steps is ... heres a pic... hope this helps

Nice Pic

I came across this photo on a diff blog

I think it has a future

On a Freakin' Roll, Just Won Level 5

i dont wanna jinx myself by getting too excited....but i just played my Level 5 game and i won !!! ...i now have an entry into level 6 .. Anyone can buy in directly to these levels without having to win the previous, however the level 6 price tage is $2100 !! ....

Now i just dont kow if i should play level 6 or level 6a

level 6 , is a tounrey with 18 players and top 3 finishers get the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure Package , and nothing for anyone else

level 6a is a table with only 9 players, and only 1st place gets the PCA package , however, 2nd and 3rd each get $1500 , 4th and 5th get 1k and 6th and 7th get $500

Im thinking i may be better off playing level 6a because all i need to do is have 2 ppl bust before me and im guaranteed at least $500 , not bad considering that i started on level 1 using my FPP points

I gotta think about this

wish me luck

Low Stakes 6-Max No Limit Hold 'Em SNG Strategy

By: The Monster Stack (Guest Blogger)

Hello,

Although I have played several thousand Sit and Go (SNG) tournaments over the years I still consider myself somewhat of a novice. I never really attacked them for profit but I have managed to squeeze out a nice profit from them anyway. For me, they are a good way to waste some time and get away from the cash games without risking a lot of money. In the process, there is room to make a nice profit.

I have taken a long, long break from poker due to some important things, but over the last week I have had some free time to play around. Since I was short on time I mostly wanted to get in some playing time rather than make money. I hate jumping into games and trying to make a profit quickly. I prefer to take my time and since there are big swings in poker, I didn't want to get into a big hole with no time to make the money back.

But I digress. I decided to play in low stakes SNGs to get in some playing time. Over this last week I have played in forty 6-Max No Limit Hold 'Em tournaments on PokerStars. The buy-in for each was $6.60 with two places being paid; $23.40 for the win and $12.60 for second place. I won twenty-eight of these, cashed in seven and busted out in five. If you are keeping score, that's a profit of just under $480. I suppose that gives me the authority to write a little strategy piece on how to make money in these tournaments. Or maybe not. Either way I am going to because I can.

The first thing that you must realize about these tournaments is that they pay out 33% of those who enter. So right from the start you have a one in three chance of nearly doubling your money and a more than 16% chance of making 3.5-1 on your money. Now I know that you are saying "hey, most SNGs have the same pay scale" and you'd be right. The difference is that in the shorthanded SNGs there are fewer players, giving you a much better chance of getting paid. In a nine person SNG you need to outlast seven other players to make a little more than double your money (based on the $6.50 9 person Turbo SNG on PokerStars). Here, if you outlast four players you do just about the same thing.

So here are some of the techniques that I have employed during these forty tournaments. The first thing I did was build my weak-tight image. During the first one or two blind levels there is almost no reason to play a hand. That means you should be dumping all but the best aces (A-K and A-Q are good although I would dump A-Q to a re-raise this early). And never gamble for all your chips pre-flop with A-K this early. Be careful with pairs, even big ones. People are all too willing to gamble with you. Remember, 10-10 is not that big a favorite over Q-9s (a little better than 2-1 although I'll take it every time). If you enter a pot, raise. DO NOT LIMP in early in the tournament. This will get you in trouble. Raise or fold. And be prepared to fold to big or even medium sized raises. There is no reason to commit yourself this early. There are those that like to gamble early on. Let them do it against someone else. I practically fold everything except aces and kings during the first two levels.

Once the first player is knocked out you should start seeing some more flops. This is particularly true past the second blind level. Again, don't get too aggressive. There is no reason to get knocked out in fifth. Out of my five bust outs I made it to third place three times and fourth once. The goal here is to keep your stack either even or up a bit until there are four players left. Once it becomes four handed you need to open up your game. You want to build a stack so that you are not the shortstack when it becomes three handed. I love to open steal from under the gun four handed which just happens to be the cutoff position in this case. Start to become aggressive, NOT stupid. This is not the time to start slow playing hands pre-flop nor is it time to raise with any two cards (unless of course there are weak-scared players in the blinds).

While on the subject of slow playing I must say, don't do it. Don't give anyone a free flop. Keep your raises consistent. I can't stress this enough. Always open for the same amount every time. I like to raise four times the blind in these shorthanded games to make those who want to see flops pay for it. If you are stealing, make it four times the big blind. If you have aces, do the same. And always, always make a continuation bet no matter what. Many people call to try and hit a big flop. More often than not they will miss. If you check, you give them a chance to outdraw your A-Q with their K-9. I've seen it happen too many times. If the flop is 7-4-10 and you bet, they will fold their K-9. Check it down and you will lose the hand nearly 25% of the time.

When it gets three handed, it's time to pick on the scared player. If nobody appears to be scared of bubbling, play your cards a little more. Don't play too much against the shortstack. If you have 2,000 chips and the chips the chip leader has 6,000 there is no reason to switch places with the player who has 1,000. You'd be surprised how much people are willing to gamble on the shortstack. Be patient. Weak aces are good to raise with but not good enough to call an all-in raise or re-raise. Be prepared to fold.

But what if you are the shortstack? Hang in there. Don't push with garbage. There is always a chance that the other two players will bump heads. If this happens you cash. You must be willing to fold your blinds in these tournaments.

Defending you blinds here is not worth it. In one tournament it was three and I had 200 in chips left after a cooler. The chip counts were something like 6,500, 2,300 and 200. The blind were 50-100 and I was in the big blind. The chip leader raised to 200 on the button and the small blind called. I folded by 8-4o. They got involved in a betting war and the small blind got knocked out in third place. I cashed. Never give it up. (I actually got back up to over 1,000 chips before busting out. I could actually have won it.)

Once you are heads up you are playing for $10.80. You are each guaranteed $12.60. You want this money. The blinds are usually not that high since it is a six handed tournament. There is actually some decent play for a little bit. Don't dunk off your stack, however you must be aggressive. I am not a heads-up expert so I don't want to start giving advice in that area but I will say that others are far too willing to double up a shortstack when heads up in one of these tournaments. They figure that they have cashed already so let's just end it. Whoever wins, wins. So if you are the shorter stack, look for opportunities to double up and if you are the big stack, don't give it away.

To sum it up, here are some key points to follow:

  • Build a weak-tight image during the first two blind levels.
  • Fold all but the best hands early on.
  • Never limp. Raise or fold. And be prepared to fold to re-raises.
  • Never slow play.
  • Always follow through with a continuation bet on the flop after a pre-flop raise.
  • Keep your raises at four times the big blind with A-A, J-10s or 7-2o.
  • Keep your stack even or up a little until it gets four handed.
  • Start getting aggressive four handed.
  • A good steal position is the cutoff.
  • Pick on the scared player when it becomes three handed.
  • Don't trade places with the shortstack three handed.
  • Do anything to cash, even folding a huge big blind with a bad hand.
  • When heads up, be aggressive.
  • If you are shortstacked, look for opportunities to double up.
  • If you are chip leader, don't double up the shortstack to try and end it quickly.
Addendum: There is one important piece of strategy that I had to add. If you are three handed (or heads-up, although you might be able to wait one or two hands) and the blinds are really high in relation to the stacks (for example the average stack is 3,000 and the blinds are at 200-400) it is time to become super-aggressive. Don't ever limp. Don't even make a standard raise. I personally move all-in until I win or bust out. There is simply no play left in this game. You have to hope to get lucky (or not get unlucky). Chip leads mean nothing at this point. Push and hope for the best. In one tournament there was an epic three handed battle. No one would pay anyone off. When the blinds got super high I pushed all-in every pot. By the time the other two realized that they needed to defend it was too late. They had no chips. It took 35 minutes three handed. When the blinds got high I won the tournament in less than 3 minutes.

See you on the felt,
The Monster Stack

Night Of Major Suckouts: In My Favor!!

Tonight I was playing an SNG and i dont remember sucking out in 1 game as much as i did tonight.

I won this tourney , primarily all because of LUCK !!

Heres a Hand that happened while most players were still left in the toutney . I was Dealt pocket JJ and after a King-high flop i decided to move all in , opponent thought for a second and called me with KQ....luckily for me a J hit on the river!!

Heres the photo of my JJ getting lucky on the river

When we got down to ITM and it was 3 handed , I knocked out the 3rd place guy with this donkey move i made

I was deal A7 and pushed all in to steal the blinds, and got called with opponent holding pocket KK

and I caugh the lucky Ace on the river ( maybe barry greenstein will teach me how to do that more often, lol)

And as if it was destined, this is the final hand of the game
In this hand , i was major chip leader and pushed all in with 10,9 offsuit and got called with opponent holding pocket 55...
And the donkey that i am i was able to make a straight

If only all my tourneys can be this lucky

wish me luck

p.s. i need to find a better way of posting screenshot and pics....mine seem to come out very messy as opposed to some other blogs i read....can someone chime in with advice....what i do now is hit PrintScreen and then open Paint and paste and save as BMP....

Some Stats

Some stats...

In my last 95 sng tourneys
from oct 7 till oct 16 ( I bought tourneymanager oct 7 )

ROI % 37.7
ITM % 48.4
profit $362
$/hr $13

I like the #'s except that per hour rate...it really drives me crazy
In order to improve that, I need to either get better and start cashing more ...or I can keep my level of play the same and play more tables...or increase my buyin
I'm not sure the # of tourneys that I played is a good enough sample size...and ill prob wait till I have a 1000 under my belt and then perhaps increase the buyin

any comments?

Wish me luck

p.s I owe some bloggers some $$ from last longer bets in the WBCOOP, I was knocked out in the somehwere between 1000-1100 out of 1337 , embarassing!!!

Driving Home With Some Extra Cash In My Pocket

I'm headed home from a live $2/$5 game , before the game started the host was offering a Freeroll Tourney.
Tourney had 10 guys and prize pool was $200 for 1st place and $100 for 2nd place...I came in first place.
I was low stack most of the game and somehow made it to final 3 at which point the blinds were so high , 400/800 and we all started with 1000 in chips. I kept offering to do a 3 way chop but the other 2 kept saying no. No hands really come to mind, but I eliminated the 3rd place guy and dented the remaining player in 1 hand.. Heads up play lasted 2 hands.

I sat at the cash gane for about 2 or 3 hours and had a terrible bad beat. I had pocket QQ vs A10...flop was 10 7 3 and other guy who was so aggressive moved all in ...the river brought him another 10 and I was felted.

I decided to rebuy and grind myself back ..and after 2 hours I had QQ again vs my cousins GERMAN VIRGINS ( 99 ) ...i won the pot and was back to my original starting point

I cashed out with exactly $400 , so my total profit for night was $200

I'm exhausted and headed home

wish me luck

Finished Playing a Set Of 2 Tourneys

I placed in 3rd & 2nd , and it adds to my overall profits, but I played horribly when it was 5 players left and even worse while on the bubble.
I was chip leader most of the game and I just played a little reckless and I was lucky to have been ITM after my stupidity.

However , I think I have identified a major leak in my game and I will try to work on it. I'd rather not mention it now because I play with some of my readers. But I'm going to try to work on it and hopefully should have some good results.

Another issue I have with placing 3rd or even 2nd is that although I'm ITM, and my overall profits grows , it seriously damages my $/hr rate. Its so important that I place 1st. Duh

wish me luck

Its 2:45 am , Heading Home From a Live Game

I decided to take a break from the SnG Challenge and play in a live $2/5 NLHE game.
I picked up my cousin and got to the game while it was already in progress. There were only 6 players seated so they were glad we came to fill up the game. I bought in for $250 and after 2 or 3 orbits I pretty much sized up the players , some who I have seen in the past and some new guys too. I came to the conclusion that there was 1 very good player and a few tight ppl who played only good hands . And then there were 2 action junkies who seemed to raid pre flop every hand and were felted quite a few times.
these 2 guys were obviously affiliated with he dealer bec they kept rebuying but I never saw money being paid ,just more chips given to them.

I don't have any memorable hands and hovered btween the $280 and $150 mark all night ...
1hand that comes to mind was me being ultra aggressive pre flop against 1 of the action junkies. I was big blind and dealt AKo , action junkie 1 raises 4 x BB everyone folds , SB calls ( he always called everything ) and I decided to push all in with hopes of stealing the pot right there and then. Action junkie insta calls and he was allin since I covered him , I was a bit nervous thinking he had a pair , SB folds and we flip over , he shows A8 and starts screaming "c'mon dealer , gimme an 8, just 1 time".
The board was a blank and I took it down . I cashed in for a $135 profit , I also tipped about $30 throughout the night and the rake was horrendous, 10 % with no cap!!

Now I'm driving home and just hoping that Mrs PokerGrind isn't upset that I'm coming home so late.

Wish me luck

Just Played A Set of 3 Tourneys

I came in 9th place .......
And 2 - 1st place finishes !!!!!!!
I was looking at Tourney Mgr and I seem to either bust out early in a tourney or make it to In The Money (ITM)

I guess that helps my with my $/hr .... I'm now up to $36/hr ... Still not good , but better than $29

I'm going to post some screenshots of my stats from Tourney MGR , I know a lot of you have seen all this stuff by reading other blogs or on your own , but I do have some family and friends who read this blog and they aren't 'pros' like some of you , and don't know all the poker lingo.

Now I'm off to my real job , and hopefully more $ per hour

wish me luck

Some Stats Since I Started SNG Challenge

Here are some stats on how I've been doing since I started The SnG Challenge , I haven't had a lot of time and only played a total of 16 poker tournaments. And each tourney is $11 buyin

stats-
games played: 16
ROI % : 70.6
profit: $133
ITM %(in the money,top 3):56.3
$/HR: $30.34

I'm extremely unhappy that I only had a chance to play 16 , ill try to make time for more

my ROI is amazing and way above average, I'm a bit nervous how I will react emotionally when I start to see a downswing

profit is ok, hey , its better than losing , maybe when I play more games I will see a significant bankroll boost . For now it pays my gas bill

per hour of $30 doesn't excite me much , I feel I'm worth a lot more, but until I add more tables to my game it won't get higher ...eventually ill play higher limits and if I do well I should see a nice per hr increase..

Wish me luck

From: "PokerStars Support"
To: stevenwe@XXXXXXXX.com
Subject: Results for PokerStars Tournament 50035479
Date: Mon, 21 May 2007 01:26:38 -0400

Dear stevenwe,

Dear PokerStars player:

Congratulations on winning a WSOP* satellite! You're now poised to follow
in the footsteps of Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, and Joe Hachem, and
become a member of Team PokerStars wearing a championship bracelet.

Please read this email very carefully as it contains important information
concerning the registration process for the Main Event.

1. Please immediately review our World Series terms and conditions at:

http://www.pokerstars.com/wsop/terms/

These rules will apply to you and you need to understand them.

2. Buy-in: Despite our best efforts, we were unable to work out an
arrangement with Harrah's to register you directly for the event, so we are
no longer able to deal with the buy-in on your behalf. Therefore, we will
deposit $10,000 into your PokerStars account in the next 48 hours. The
$1,000 towards travel expenses have already been deposited in your
PokerStars account.

You now have three options regarding the $10,000 that we will deposit into
your account:

* You may leave the money in your account and continue to play on
Pokerstars.

* You may cash out all or part of the money out via the cashier as you
normally would, and do whatever you wish with that money.

* We *hope* that you'll cash out the money and use it to buy into the WSOP,
and we will see you in Vegas, proudly wearing your PokerStars clothing.

The event is at the Rio Hotel/Casino and starts on Friday, July 6th 2007. It
ends on Tuesday, July 17th 2007. You can see the full schedule for the
World Series of Poker* here:

http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/tourney/tourneyDetails.asp?groupID=309

You have two options on how to officially buy in:

A. Pre-register for the WSOP* Main Event

- Go to:
http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/preregistration.asp

- Click on “Pre-register now for the 2007 World Series of Poker!”
- Fill in your player information and select Event 55
- Select which day you prefer to start
- Select the method of payment you want to use for the deposit of the buy-in
amount
- After completing the pre-registration form, you will be contacted directly
by Harrah's.

B. Or, register directly at the Rio

- Go to the Rio Conference Center where the World Series Events are taking
place
- Go to the Cashier with proof of ID and $10,000 cash for the buy-in

3. While we had planned to arrange hotel accommodations for our players as
we have in the past, we are now unable to handle these arrangements.
However, we will still pay you $1,000 if you choose to wear PokerStars
clothing exclusively for the duration of the Main Event [1]. If you do not
play in WSOP Main Event, you will be unable to collect this additional
$1,000 (in lieu of hotel accommodations).

We will send you another email with instructions on how to pick up the
PokerStars clothing. Please note, the $1,000 towards accommodations, will be
deposited in your PokerStars account after you pick up the player bag and
provide proof of playing in the main event. If you're still playing in the
main event on July 11th, we'll deposit another $1,000 towards your
additional expenses.

Harrah's is offering special room rates to all players who pre-register for
the World Series. You'll get special pre-entrant rates starting at $85 per
night for one of Harrah's hotels. When you officially register and pay your
entry fee, the hotel will automatically convert your rate to the exclusive
entrant rate.

These pre-entrant rates are available at Bally's Las Vegas, Caesars Palace,
Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah's Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, and Rio All-Suite
Hotel & Casino. For more details please go to:

http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/reservations.asp

If you're a Supernova, we've got some good news for you: we have secured a
limited number of rooms at Treasure Island exclusively for our Supernovas.
Supernovas can use Frequent Player Points to purchase their hotel room at
Treasure Island while the supply lasts. If you wish to do so please email us
at wsop@pokerstars.com.

In addition we have a page on our website, with Las Vegas hotel details:

http://www.pokerstars.com/wsop/hotels/

That will help you make accommodation arrangements.

By wearing PokerStars clothing not only will you get the $1,000 payment to
help you with your accommodation, but if you make it to the final table,
we'll also offer you:

- $100,000 if you make the final table [2]
- $250,000 if you make it to 2nd or 3rd place [2]
- $1,000,000 if you win the event [2]

4. FPP and TLB satellite winners are required to wear PokerStars gear
exclusively, and we hope you'll wear it with pride. We will send you an
email soon with instructions on how to pick up the PokerStars clothing and
the $1000 towards accommodation (including an additional $1000 if you're
still playing in the main event after July 11th).

If you make it to the final table, we'll also offer you the same final table
bonuses as described above.

It is now your responsibility to buy into the Main Event, and arrange for
your own travel and accommodations. All of us at PokerStars sincerely regret
this inconvenience for you and we deeply appreciate your understanding and
cooperation.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us at
wsop@pokerstars.com

Again, congratulations on your win, and perhaps we'll be taking pictures of
you with Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, and Chris Moneymaker this year!

Best Regards,
The PokerStars WSOP Team

endorsement contract with PokerStars.

Jealous?

Tourney Manager is Da Bomb

Where have i been all my life!!! .. I finally took some of your advice and downloaded the trial version of Tourney Manager , and boy is this program good !!!

I will finally have my stats staring at me in the face , ( whether i like it or not ). It was a simple breeze to set it up , and im sure theres so much more to it that i didnt even go though yet,

This program automatically updates itself when i hit the F5 button , and it shows me everything, ROI , ITM , $/HR and so much more .

I wanna thanks Lifes A Grind for helping me set up certain stuff and for convincing me to get this program asap.

I also sat at tourney will Will Wonka at a tourney and we ended up being heads up, and even though i had a nice chip lead ,he simply outplayed me and took it down , congrats to him.

A little tired now , so im not gonna post any stats , but i did pretty well today , and i even won a satellite on Pokerstars today. I won a $600+ entry and a chance to win a seat at the upcoming WPT ( or EPT ) Pokerstars Carribean Adventure in the Bahams. Im going to try to win this very badly.

wish me luck

Played Another 2 sets this morning

I gotta find another way to keep track ( any ideas )
This morning i decided to be a hot shot and opened up 3 STT ... Busted out in 9th place in 1 , and came in 2nd and 2nd in the other 2.

Then i fired up another set of 2 and was doing phenomenal in both , but i played the bubble way to aggressively and busted out in 4th place. I was so tilted that i actually got up from comp for a min even though the other tourney still had 5 players left.
I sat back down and there were 4 left, i played aggressively on the bubble and really chipped up ... I ended up coming in 1st place , the last hand was a major suckout on my end , but i was major chip leader and had i lost the hand it would barely matter

Games played today, so far: 5
Profit for today: a measely $44
Roi: no clue. I need to figure out a way to do a running tally ,

Wish me luck

I Quickly Played Another Set of SNG's

Since i slept all saturday afternoon i wasnt able to fall asleep , so i decided to play another set of 2 tables of $11 Sit n Go Tournies....
I must be on a heater because i was chip leader all game and 1 game i finished 1st and other game finished 2nd ( only finished 2nd because of 2 huge bad beats , i cant complain though)

So my monthly stats are as follows

Games Played : 4
Profit: + $73
ROI 165% ( i hope im doing percentages correctly, it looks mighty fine seeing that # )

each set takes about an hour , so the 2 sets were 2 hours , so im making roughly $35 an hour ....
$35 an hour doesnt really get my juices flowing , but these were hours that i wouldve spent watching some bull sh*t that i have tivo'ed , or even worse , some BS that my wife has Tivo'ed.

Obviously if i can start learning to play more than 2 tables at once , and assuming it doesnt affect my level of play , im hoping i can bump up that per hour rate that im making , Im also not including any monies that i make in rakeback , that will just be a bonus

wish me luck

SNG Play and My Daily Results

So from now on , i am going to play strictly $11 Single Table Tournies ( STT ) and start out playing 2 at a time and try to get 3 or 4 sets in a day. I will be posting my results on a dialy basis , mainly to keep records for myself and for all u freaks out there who actually read my blog.

Im not sure how exactly im going to post my results, so ill mess around for a few days and figure it out as time goes on. But i will be trying to keep monthly records

I only played 1 set of 2 games tonight , i placed 1st and 5th ,

Games Played :2
+ $23

ROI : 104% ( i hope i did the calculation correctly, i spent $22 and got a total of $45 , leaving me with $23, can someone chime in and tell me if i did the % correctly)

I also want to tell some of my readers about a buddy of mine , he's a low stakes cash game specialist and has given me so much advice and helped out in the past , his blog is Artsemis.com
check it out

wish me luck

Gonna Change up My Play

i havent played any poker since last tuesday , about a week ago. Im enjoying the sun here in Palm Beach , FL and constantly thinking about poker, about my strategy about grinding it out and reading about poker on my blackberry. Ive been reading alot of amateur and pro blogs, reading about other peoples strategies. I think that when i come back to NYC im going to take a break from playing cash games and exclusively play single table tourneys. I feel that is my best game and it doesnt have the emotional toll that ring games have. In a STT i dont mind the bad beats but in a cash game it really gets to me. My goal is to be able to play 6-8 tables at a time and play 3 sets a day. I will have to start with just 2 tables at a time since i do best, but i will gradually add more tables over the next few weeks. I will start playing the $11 tournies at first ( not sure if i should play the turbos or regular, i have a feeling the turbos are filled with better players ) and after 1000 tournies ill decide if i move up in the buyins. My initial goal is to make a ROI of 10% - 15%
And as much as i love pokerstars and hate fulltilt , rakeback is soooo important that ill be switching to ftp full time.

I will also try to post my daily results. I also anticipate the 1000 tournies will take 2+ months since ill be starting out at only multi tabling 2 tables at once.

Wish me luck
